Biography

Merry Masheka

Democratic Republic of the Congo / Kenya

Merry Masheka deploys a taut acrylic painting focused on dissecting relational architectures and the making of identity. Working from the space of the diaspora, Masheka’s work captures the mechanisms of adaptation and resilience that govern contemporary human connections.

Refusing simple narrative portraiture, Masheka builds emotionally charged scenes in which the figure becomes the seat of an inner resistance. These compositions fix vulnerability and belonging in an economy of visual means that asserts the work’s presence without retrospective concession.
