Biography
Democratic Republic of the Congo
Jessy Dunga deploys a painting of confrontation in which raw matter becomes the seat of the political and environmental tensions of the contemporary Congo. Working with dense impasto and incisions, he turns the pictorial surface into a field of forces where colour fights against erasure.
His practice refuses the passive aestheticisation of crisis: each canvas operates as a geological and social map in which the human body and the landscape become one. Dunga establishes resilience not as a thematic stance but as a fundamental pictorial condition.
